Created on January 18, 1979, the association is governed by a board of directors composed of fourteen academics and practitioners.
Article 2 of the association's statutes specifies that the AFFI has the following objectives:
- to develop communication and exchanges between its members in order to contribute to ensuring the best progress in science and financial management,
- to contribute to improving the quality of teaching and practice of financial management,
- to promote, support and disseminate financial research,
- to promote the national and international reputation of teachers and researchers in the field of finance,
- to develop the exchange of knowledge between France and abroad.
Article 5 states that the means of action of the AFFI consist of:
- conferences, seminars, working groups and in particular the annual conference of its members,
- actions carried out by the managers and members of the association within the framework of the statutes,
- publications and bulletins which it adopts as organs of dissemination,
- financial research support and assistance.
